One of the reasons we have it made here (and by “here,” I mean at our host family’s) is that our neighbors make bread for a living. The father was actually jokingly introduced to us as the “Hot Bread Director.” They don’t make the traditional tonis puri but rather these delicious, soft round loaves.
The best part about this arrangement is that every day around 4:00 our host mom leans out our back balcony and shouts across our tiny backyard to see if the bread is ready. When it is, she runs around the corner and comes back with minutes-from-the-oven, steam-still-rising hot bread. And immediately, everyone in the house gathers around the kitchen table for an afternoon snack, smothered with butter or our host mom’s plum jam.
I can’t think of a better reason to leave work a little early.

That looks AMAZING!!! Kind of reminds me of afternoon snack option #2 at Gram’s house (of, course Option #1 being macaroni with butter)…..
I eat lots of macaroni with butter here too. Living here is kind of like living at Grammie’s house, sometimes…
that looks good kinzerrrrrrrrrrrr
