Today was gloomy.  Rainy, grey, windy, cold…not a day during which I particularly wanted to do anything.

The view outside my office door

I did manage to drag myself out of the house for a few hours, to sit and drink tea with my co-workers.  (My director was in meetings in Tbilisi today, so with no threat of her dropping by there wasn’t much work being done.)  But I excused myself around 2:00 because I knew my host mom was making some delicious rainy-day food.

Pigs in a Blanket, Georgian-style

Peroshkis, which are basically mashed potatoes wrapped in dough and pan fried...yum.

Thanks to Georgia’s first capital city, Mtskheta, we have the day off tomorrow (it’s Mtskhetoba!), so our weekend is off to a good, although perhaps unhealthy, start.  We’re hoping for at least one sunny day so we can head to Borjomi Park for a hike…but staying inside with movies, hot beverages and more of our host mom’s comfort food doesn’t sound too rough either.  Happy weekend, friends!
